What are your plans??

I was just wondering what everyones plan for the summer are??

I am so excited to finally be getting out of Texas. Not that I don't love where I live, but I have not left here for way too long. I am headed back home to visit family. I cannot wait!! I am going to be making the 17 hour trip home by myself and so I am nervous but excited to see family. We have 2 family reunions to go to while we are there and so that will be fun!! My hubby is hopefully joining me after our first week. We plan to stay for 3 weeks. To make a long story short, it will depend on what his doctor says this week about his traveling. Whether he comes or not I have decided to go.

That sounds very exciting!!! We are going to visit my grandparents this weekend (taking a 4 day weekend) and then my youngest sister in law is coming down for 3 weeks starting the end of June. My Brother in Law comes down the day she leaves, with his new girlfriend. They will be here for 1 week. So we are planning to take the kiddos to Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn Galveston for the weekend and then going on a "grown-up" trip to the river/austin. That should be fun!!! Oh plus Addison's first birthday is coming up at the end of July. I am so excited yet so sad that she is so grown up already!!!

holy cow, Addison is going to be a year old....wow time flies. I remember when you had her. So fun!! I love 1st birthdays!! Sounds like you are going to have lots of fun and have lots of visitors.

I really don't have many plans for the summer! We just recently got back from our family trip to Newport Beach, CA, so I think this summer will be pretty laid back. Probably a couple of trips to the zoo with my little one, the park, swimming, BBQ's, etc.

We are travelling back and forth between Ontario (hubby's parents/family) and Chicago (my parents/family) until we head back to Nigeria mid-August. Hopefully we'll get a few days with just the three of us, but we don't have specific plans yet.

I can see why you'd be nervous to go that long on your own! But I am sure it will be worth it and I am assuming your baby still sleeps a lot in the car? But then I guess you have the older two to contend with:)

And what's up with your hubby? I hope he's ok?!?

Amy-a staycation is always fun...I am sure you guys will have fun. I wish that we had a zoo to go to, or something fun like that to keep the kids busy. I live in such a small town that we do not have much fun going on. But we do have an ice rink and tomorrow is ice skating day and my son looks forward to it every week. He wants to plan hockey and so he is learning to skate. We will see how is doing when hockey season starts in the fall.

Stephanie-so fun that you get to come back to the states. And to see all your family. I am sure they are going to enjoy that. How often do you get to come back?? Out of curiosity, how long have you guys been in Nigeria?? And is it permanent?? Do you like living there??

yes Kate still sleeps in the car alot and so it should not be too bad. Your right about the older ones though, good thing though they are not sitting by each other, I am glad to have a large car.....and so they cannot fight. Let's hope I don't have to drop them off at some indian reservation or something!!

About my hubby, he has been off of work now for 3 weeks. And he just got another 2 weeks off from his dr last week. Tomorrow we visit his pain specialist, sad that he has to have one of those, and we will see what he thinks about his newest meds. He is never off of his meds. His current on is making his hands and feet peel a layer of skin, it's great. But he is getting out of bed now. He went to church on Sunday for 3 hours and that was the most he had done for almost a month and that was enough for him. His back was toast after. He came home took some meds and went to bed for 4-5 hours. It is really frustrating! We go and see his surgeon(which is 2 hours away, not happy about that traveling) on Thursday and get the results of his mylogram he had 2 weeks ago. (what they did was shot dye into his back and then took some CT scans) I am anxious and nervous about what we are going to hear. I really just want him to get better and get my husband back. It is hard to sit back and watch him miss out on so much of life.

Heather, I hope your hubby starts to feel better that really stinks to be in so much pain.

Not much planned for us other than a short trip to my Mom's family reunion in Ohio. With Tim in law school & only getting a month off between semesters, it's hard to plan anything. But I've got plans to sort through all the random boxes in our house & clean out the closets!

hey it is always nice to see family, that will be fun!!! I do understand not having much time off from school and that sucks. How much longer does he have in school??

We don't have any plans for this summer. Like Amy, we will be going to the zoo. We recently bought a membership, and Lydia (she's 2) loves to see the animals. We will probably also spend some time at the small water park by our house.

A year & a half He's scheduled to graduate in December 2012 & take the bar in February 2013 so we'll be free & clear by March 2013. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

We've been in Nigeria for 6 years! Crazy! We'll probably be moving back to North America after two more years...but you never know. We originally went for just a year:) We do like it there a lot. We love the people and the culture. We live quite comfortable, but very simply and of course there are many more daily living tasks and annoyances than here in North America. I just miss family so much while we are there, especially now that we have child and my sister has a child. But the problem is when we leave Nigeria, we'll miss our friends there too!

I hope they get to the bottom of your hubby's problem! No fun!

Stephanie L-a year and half is not too long, it will be over before you know it. Not sure if life will get simpler but hey he will be done with school.

Stephanie B.-wow, six years, that is a long time. I would love to go back to living simple...how to do that?? I sure that it would be hard either way. What an experience though.

Heather-That is a LONG drive home, what part of Utah are you from?

I grew up all over the valley, but my parents are now in Sandy. I went to high school in Murray. My hubby is from St. George and so we will travel there too.

Update on the hubby-we went and visited the surgeon and no surgery for now, not much he can do for him. Which is kind of frustrating because I was hoping that he could have surgery and it would help. But nope nothing. We traveled 2 hours to the drs just to find that out. Kind of frustrating when I took all the kids with me because Jeff can't drive. After I heard that I was in tears....I want him to get better and we need to figure out how. So now Jeff says he goes back to his pain specialist and his other dr (not sure what kind of dr he is) and they are going to game plan what other options he has. He may go to physical therapy. All I know is that he cannot live like this forever, and frankly neither can I. I got to bed exhausted at night because I have all his duties to do as well, plus he is just another "kid." He cannot do much around the house and so if he needs it I have to get it. I do dump the baby on him though and he can feed her. I am just glad that he has not complained about me doing that. I think that hardest part is the gardening. He planted this ginormous garden planning on him taking care of it (it is his favorite thing to do) and now I am stuck doing everything. And I HATE gardening. I had to mow the lawn today and that was more than enough. I am sure that he is not loving it either, I guess I just needed a place to vent. Sorry about that. It has just been a really long 3 1/2 weeks. That is when it all started up again. I do have my scrapping though and I love doing it, it kind of takes me away and I forget about it. Plus I have discovered Pinterest and I am on it WAY too much. But I guess seeing photos of dream vacations and hoping I can one day go with my hubby is better than dwelling on the situation.

I am so sorry about you situation with your husband! I can't imagine what you are going with. Taking care of him and 3 kids has to be hard enough, along with everything else, including a garden! That's too much for one person! I don't know how you do it! Hang in there! Hopefully all the doctors will figure out something soon so he can get better!

thanks Amy!! Where in Sandy do your parents live?? Just curious?? So if you are in UT did you go to the STS get together?

My parents live around 8100 S and 1500 E. I had planned on going to the STS get together and then my little one woke up with a fever and cranky as all get out, so I didn't make it.

okay I know where that is, my parents live off of 106th south and 7th east. Too bad about your little one, hope he gets better.

I've been on vacation since school ended after Memorial Day. I was at my mom's in Nebraska for a week and a half. During that time, I was able to meet up with some friends at a retreat. Had a great girls weekend that weekend.

Mom and I headed down to Arkansas to pick up my 2 sons who had been staying with my in-laws. It was nice to see them for a couple of days.

After coming back to Nebraska, mom, the boys, and I headed out to Salt Lake City to visit my brothers. I loved being out there. The weather and scenery were beautiful! I know where some of those areas are that you are going to, Heather

I am enjoying being back at home now with Hubby. I missed him for the month of June since he had to stay home and work. We will all be heading up to Wisconsin in a couple of weeks to visit his side of the family we haven't seen in years.

The boys and I are definitely getting our miles this summer. So thankful to have the chance to travel with them and have an understanding husband who doesn't mind us traveling. I am glad that he's going with us on our next trip though
